The Commission serves as a forum through which both nations seek to determine the fates of their missing servicemen.  One of the roles of the USMLM during its existence was to help locate and repatriate POW/MIA.  Read about the role of the USMLM in the unit histories available from the US Army Europe (USAREUR) Historian's web site at .   The Joint Commission announcement can be read from the White House press release available at .
